Case studies are written so engineers may benefit from one another’s experiences. Cases should describe how engineers apply innovative theories and new technologies to common and uncommon challenges. The case can illustrate best practices, rules of thumb, new applications or new technologies. Each narrative should contain:
- Description of what is being considered (operating system, process, method, etc.)
- Statement of problem or need
- Description of solution (The narrative may include applicable calculations)
- Description of results
- Comment on the wider applicability of results.
